In Chania, there are traditional Cretan clubs with musicians who play the lyre and lute and violin many times. These are mainly places of local residents. There are plenty of cafes and bars, and clubs, where the various types of music coexist harmoniously ,music from jazz,pop to greek music, depending on the time and mood. There are also bouats with small orchestras and authentic repertoire, so called rembetika and folk songs, frequented mainly by young people.

In Chania, in the garden of municipal park,there are a summer cinema. Also, each summer the town of Chania organize festivals to concerts of classical and contemporary music, plays and other events held at the Venetian harbor,in the theater in the east Moat and in the Peace Park.
